Eleonore Gonzaga

Eleonore Gonzaga (23 September 1598 - 27 June 1655) (also know as Eleonore of Gonzaga). Born in Mantua, her parents were Vincenzo Gonzaga (Duke Vincenzo I Gonzaga of Mantua) (1562-1612) and Eleonora Medici (Eleonora de Medici) (1567-1611). She was the wife of Ferdinand II, Holy Roman Emperor. Eleonora, famous for her singular beauty, married Ferdinand in Innsbruck 1622. They had no children, but she became stepmother to Ferdinand's children from his previous marriage. She established Carmelite convents in both Graz and Vienna.
