Edward P. Carville

Edward Petere Carville (May 14, 1885 - June 27, 1956) is a Governor and a Senator from Nevada. He was a Democrat.

Carville was born in Mound Valley, Nevada in 1885. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana in 1909. He was a United States attorney for Nevada between 1934 and 1938. He became the Governor of Nevada in 1939 and served there until his resignation in 1945. He was appointed on July 24, 1945 to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the death of James G. Scrugham and served from 1945 and 1947. He was an unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1946. He resumed the practice of law in Reno, Nevada until his death there in 1956.
