Duke Zhuang of Chang (757BC-701BC) was the leader in the state of Chang. His name was Wusheng, which means ‘a difficult birth’. In 743BC he became the duke in Chang and later defeated his brother Gongshu Duan who led a rebellion against him. He was appointed Left Advisor by King Ping of Zhou. After King Ping’s death, the following king (King Huan) recalled him off official. In return for this, Duke Zhuang refused to go to the capital and meet King Huan. King Huan made a war against him.
