Don Hastings

Donald Francis Hastings (born April 1, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American actor.

He played Captain Video in the DuMont television series Captain Video and His Video Rangers , which ran from 1949 to 1955. In this role, he played one of television's first superheroes geared toward young children.

From 1956 to 1960, he played the role of Jack Lane on the soap opera The Edge of Night, and since October 1960, he has portrayed Dr. Bob Hughes on As the World Turns. Hastings holds the record for playing the same television role longer than any other actor.

Fellow As the World Turns star Helen Wagner has played her role since 1956 but she left the show after a few months to return later, so her 48-year tenure was interrupted and declared invalid.
