Derek Benfield (born March 11, 1926) was a British playwright, and actor.

He was born in Bradford, Yorkshire. He is the author of Running Riot and the actor who played Patricia Routledge's character's husband in Hetty Wainthropp Investigates. He also appears with Colin Baker as John Hallam in the Doctor Who Radio play Catch 1782
