Denton, Greater Manchester

Denton is a town in the conurbation of Greater Manchester, United Kingdom. It 1991 it had a population of 35,820. It is part of the borough of Tameside.

During the industrial revolution, Denton was known as a hatting town, where hats were produced for aristocrats. This was the main focus of Dentons industry.

On December 5, 1992, it became a twin-town to Montigny le Brettonneux, near Paris, France.

Notable people to come from Denton, Manchester include Mick Hucknall, who became the lead singer of Simply Red.

David Jason played the character of Jack Frost in the TV Series A Touch of Frost which was based in Denton. (Not the same Denton)
