Denílson

Denílson, full name Denílson De Oliveira Araujo, (born August 24, 1977 in Diadema, Brazil) is a football winger, who in 1998 became the most expensive footballer in the world.

Denílson broke the record when Spanish club Real Betis paid £22million for his services to São Paulo, the club Denílson has been with since 1995. He has been with Betis ever since, except a brief loan to Flamengo in 1999-2000.

For Brazil, Denílson has been capped 61 times (as of 2005), scoring nine goals, since his debut in November 1996 against Cameroon. After helping his country to a second place finish at the 1998 World Cup, he then became a World Champion after Brazil won in 2002.
