The De Soto Diplomat was a product of the Chrysler Corporation of Canada in 1960. De Soto Diplomats were essentially badge engineered cars - Dodge brand cars that were badged as De Soto brand cars and not sold in the United States.

In the vernacular, such cars were commonly referred to as Plodge's, a term used to denote a Chrysler vehicle that was badge engineered and sold in Canada.
