Darren James tested HIV-positive on April 13, 2004 from having unprotected anal sex with Brazilian porn star Bianca Biaggi. As of May 6, 2004, James is suspected of giving the virus to 3 porn starlets: Lara Roxx, Jessica Dee, and Miss Arroyo.

The ensuing fears of HIV infection caused a one month (end announced May 12, 2004) shutdown of production of adult movies in the United States.
