The first community club in Korea, Daejeon Citizen joined the K-League in 1997 without the backing of a major corporation.

Playing in the city of Daejeon, the club has struggled to keep pace with the free-spending sides such as Suwon Samsung Bluewings or Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma, but have made great efforts in attracting a strong fanbase.
