The Chicago Marathon is one of the largest marathon road races in the world and one of the fastest growing. In recent years, the marathon has been the site of many world record performances, due in part to its largely flat course.
There is no qualifying time to participate in the Chicago Marathon, but only runners who finish within 6 hours are officially timed. The race is limited to 40,000 runners on a first-come, first-served basis.
