FA Premier League club Portsmouth F.C. played their first ever league match against Chatham.

  • 1900-01 - Resigned after 10 matches and record (10-1-2-7-6-32-4) expunged
  • 1920-21 - Rejoined Southern League, English Section
  • 1921 - Left Southern League
  • 1927-28 - Rejoined Southern League
  • 1929 - Left Southern League
  • 1959 - Kent League disbanded
  • 1964-65 - Joined Metropolitan League
  • 1968-69 - Joined Kent League
  • 1971-72 - Kent League Champions on goal average despite leaving 2 games unplayed
  • 1973-74 - Kent League Champions (2nd time)
  • 1974 - Changed name to Medway
  • 1974-75 - Kent League runner-up
  • 1979 - Name reverted to Chatham Town
  • 1979-80 - Kent League Champions (3rd time)
  • 1980-81 - Kent League runner-up
  • 1983-84 - Rejoined Southern League
  • 1988-89 - Rejoined Kent League
  • 1993-94 - Missed runner-up spot on goal difference
  • 1994-95 - Kent League runner-up
  • 1998-99 - Division One renamed Premier Division
  • 1999-00 - Missed runner-up spot on goal difference
  • 2000-01 - Kent League Champions (4th time)
  • 2001-02 - Rejoined Southern League
