Charlie Slater is a character in the British soap opera EastEnders. He is played by actor Derek Martin.

As a member of the Slater family, Charlie entered the square as a down and out loser, and to some extent he still is. However, his character has changed dramatically in the time he has been in the show.

His daughters have run poor Charlie ragged with revelations and personal problems. His major character transformation begins when his long suffering daughter Little Mo Mitchell is raped (after coming out of a violent relationship with Trevor). Charlie reacted badly and attacks the rapist Graham while giving him a lift in his taxi. The subsequent lawsuit and the loss of his licence, makes Charlie's character mature a great deal, from a lazy man to a family man looking out for his daughters.

More recently Charlie has had to support his grand-daughter Zoë Slater as she aborts the baby she has been carrying.
