Cary Elwes (born Ivan Simon Cary Elwes in England on October 26, 1962) is a British actor.

Elwes attended Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers, New York, where he studied acting.

Elwes descends from a staunchly Roman Catholic recusant family, however one not without scandal. His artist farther, Dominic Evelyn Bede Elwes, had moved in the circles of high society (and been friends with Lord Lucan and Lady Annabel Goldsmith to whom he was also related) before he took his own life. Cary's mother, Tessa Kennedy is of Anglo-Irish and Serbo-Croatian extraction.
