The Cape Breton Post is the only daily newspaper published on Cape Breton Island. Based in Sydney the paper specializes in local coverage of news, events, and sports from communities within the Cape Breton Regional Municipality as well as Inverness, Richmond and Victoria counties.

The paper is currently owned by Trans-Continental Media, Inc. and draws upon correspondents from TCM as well as Canadian Press for national and international coverage. Some duplicate coverage of Cape Breton is also provided by Halifax's Chronicle-Herald which maintains a bureau in Sydney.
