California Submillimeter Observatory

The California Submillimeter Observatory is a 10m diameter submillimeter wavelength telescope situated alongside the 15m James Clerk Maxwell submillimeter telescope at Mauna Kea Observatory. This telescope was combined with the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope to form the first submillimeter interferometer. The success of this experiment was important in pushing ahead the construction of the Submillimeter Array and the Atacama Large Millimeter Array interferometers.
