Burlöv is a municipality in Skåne County in southern Sweden. The municipal seat is located in the town of Arlöv, that actually forms a conurbation with the city of Malmö.
The municipality is signified by the lack of forests, lakes, and streams, and of an abundance of severing highways, railroads, and high-voltage power grids.
The population is chiefly divided between:
- Arlöv, with 8,800 inh.
- Åkarp , with 5,300 inh.
- Burlövs egnahem , with 600 inh.
Arlöv is an early industrialized town dominated by multi-storey apartment buildings, until recently with a clear working class character, now increasingly struck by unemployment and concentration of immigrants. Åkarp and Burlövs egnahem, consisting of detached house districts, have more of a clearly suburban character from where people commute to commercial centres and work within the metropolitan area of South-Western Scania.
The municipality covers an area of 18.9 km². Of the total population of 15,038, 7,427 are male, and 7,611 are female. The population density of the municipality is 797/km².
