Bundesliga (women)

The German women's Bundesliga was created, based on the model of the men's bundesliga, in 1991, by the DFB. It was first played with north and south divisions, though since 1997 it has become double-railed as a group, basing itself around the German womens championship easily. In Austria the football championship has already been played since 1978. Since 1982, there has been official recognition by OEFB , and the Austrian league has used the name women's Bundesliga.
