Brennball

Brännboll (in Swedish, pronounced as brennball) is a game similar to baseball and is commonly played throughout Sweden. The main differences from baseball are however that there's no pitcher, the batter just tosses the ball up in the air and hits it with the bat. The bat sometimes resembles a baseball bat, but can also be flat like a paddle. The ball is typically a regular tennis ball, and the outfielders aren't allowed to wear gloves. It's not an organized sport with actual teams, mostly something kids play during gym class or friends get together and play for fun. There is, however, a World Championship tournament, arranged by and for students, with official rules. This tournament has been held annually in the city of Umeå in northern Sweden since 1974.
