A map of Boston Harbor from 1888
Boston Harbor is a major port in the northeastern
United States, near
Boston, formed by the mouths of the
Mystic River from the north, and the
Charles River from the west. It constitutes the western extremity of
Massachusetts Bay. The harbor is split into the Inner Harbor and Outer Harbor by
East Boston and
Logan International Airport. Boston Harbor is also the location of many events during the
British colonial period, most notably the
Boston Tea Party.
