Bluefield College is a small religious college in Bluefield, Virginia. It has about 1,500 students.
The school was founded by the General Baptist Association of Virginia in 1922. It offers majors in both religious and secular subjects. The 65 acre campus is bounded on two sides by the state line between West Virginia and Virginia.
In 1996 the school, facing a declining enrollment, cut tuition by over 20% and refocused its student recruitment on the local area.
The school now operates graduate school branches in Roanoke, Virginia and Richmond, Virginia.
In sports the schools teams are known as the Rams and compete in the NAIA.
Among its alumni, the school claims Nobel Prize winner John F. Nash, however Nash, already recognized as a genius, actually attended the college while in high school, and did not actually earn transferable credits at the school. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Carnegie Institute of Technology and his graduate degrees at Princeton University.
The school is not related to Bluefield State College in nearby Bluefield, West Virginia.
