Blöödhag, possessors of multiple gratuitous umlauts, are a death metal band from the American Pacific Northwest who write all their songs about science fiction authors. They consider themselves pioneers of the form "edu-core ." The lyrics to Blöödhag's minute-long songs, true to death metal's form, are patently indecipherable, as they are invariably spewed in a sort of guttural roar. For that reason, Blöödhag are always sure to include printed lyrics with their music, and while their tongue is found slightly in cheek, cursory inspection finds them quite literate and even factual to the author in question's biography. Blöödhag has embarked on tours of libraries in their home region, as well as playing more traditionally suitable venues. A traditional hallmark of their show is where the band pelts its audience with used paperback versions of the sci-fi classics. Most recently they played at the 2004 Nebula Awards in Seattle, Washington. In keeping with the literary theme, the band has conferred upon themselves both academic titles and bibliographic histories, to wit:
