Bill Gammell


Bill Gammell (born December 29, 1952 in Edinburgh) won five caps on the wing for Scotland as a tall, rangy winger. He scored four tries when Scotland beat Japan 74-9 in Tokyo in 1977.

Bill holds a BA in Economics and Accountancy from Stirling University. He founded Cairn Energy and was appointed Chief Executive on its initial listing in 1989. Bill has over 20 years experience in the international oil and gas industry and is also a director of the Scottish Institute of Sport and Artemis AiM VCT plc.

He is a lifelong friend of both George W. Bush and Tony Blair. In 2004 Bill was presented with the UK Entrepreneur of the Year award.
