Benishangul-Gumuz is one of the nine ethnic divisions (kililoch) of Ethiopia. Its capital is Asosa . Covering 50,248 km² in the northwest of the country, its population (as of 1999) is 523,000. Before an administrative rearrangement, it was known as Region 6.
