Belva Ann Lockwood

Belva Ann Lockwood (nee Bennett) (1830 - 1917) was a U.S. feminist and lawyer. In 1879 she became the first female lawyer to argue before the Supreme Court. She was the National Equal Rights Party presidential candidate in 1884, and in the next election in 1888.
