Battle of Beth-zur

The Battle of Beth-zur took place in 164 BC during the revolt of the Judean Maccabees against the Seleucid Empire.

The Seleucid forces included war elephants. Eleaszar the Maccabee was crushed by an elephant after killing it.

The victory of the Judean forces is celebrated in the Jewish festival of Hanukkah.
