Awaji, Hyogo

Awaji (淡路市; -shi) is a city located in Hyogo, Japan.

Awaji was founded on April 1, 2005 upon the merging of Awaji, Higashiura, Hokudan, Ichinomiya and Tsuna towns in district of Tsuna that were then dissolved.

As of 2005, the city has an estimated population of 51,748 and a density of 281.16 persons per km². The total area is 184.05 km².
