The Aquarium of the Pacific is located in the city of Long Beach, California featuring a collection of over 10,000 fish. Construction began in 1995 and the 156,735 square foot (14,560 m³) aquarium opened in 1998. One of the most advanced aquariums in the world, the facility filters salt water at a rate of about 900,000 US gallons per hour(900 L/s).
