Amish Paradise

"Amish Paradise" is "Weird Al" Yankovic parody of the rap/hip-hop song "Gangsta's Paradise" by Coolio. Found on the album Bad Hair Day, it turns the original "Gangsta's Paraise," in which the narrator laments his dangerous way of life, on its head by presenting an Amish man praising his relatively tedious and unsophisticated existence.

The song begins:

As I walk throught the valley where I harvest my grain,
I take a look at my wife and realize she's very plain.
But that's just perfect for an Amish like me,
You know I shun fancy things like electricity.

Although Yankovic traditionally secures permission from the artists he parodies (even though this is not legally required), due to a miscommunication, the parody and video for "Amish Paradise" were not explictly authorized by Coolio. The video is a also direct spoof of Coolio's original, featuring Florence Henderson in the role originally portrayed by Michelle Pfeiffer, albeit in Amish garb.
