An alternate trading organsation (ATO) is an NGO which aims to benefit producers, not maximise profits. ATOs market handicraft and agricultural goods produced in low income countries. They follow the principles of fair trade, with many ATOs being members of the International Fair Trade Association and/or the Fair Trade Federation.
