Algeria national football team

The Algeria national football team, nicknamed Les Fennecs (The Desert Foxes), is the national team of Algeria and is controlled by the Fédération Algérienne de Football . It made two consecutive World Cups in 1982 and 1986. After upsetting West Germany 2-1 in their first game in 1982, they had to wait for the Germans and Austrians to play their last game to know who advanced to the next round. A 1-0 Germany win would suit both European teams, and that's exactly what happened, as the goal came 10 minutes into the game and both teams sat back for the next 80, sending Algeria home. FIFA responded to this result by mandating that in all future World Cups, the final group games for all teams would kick off at the same moment.

Algeria won the African Nations Cup in 1990, when they hosted the tournament.
