Alfred Spencer Heathcote was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.

Details

He was 25 years old, and a Lieutenant in the 60th Rifles (later The King's Royal Rifle Corps) , British Army during the Indian Mutiny when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC.

From June to September 1857, throughout the Siege of Delhi, India, during which he was wounded, Lieutenant Heathcote's conduct was most gallant. He volunteered for services of extreme danger, especially during the six days of severe fighting in the streets after the assault.
