Al Akhawayn University or AUI (The two Brothers' University, in Arabic جامعة الأخوين
) is located in Ifrane, just 60 kilometers from the imperial city of Fez, Morocco, in the midst of the Middle Atlas Mountains. It was inaugurated officially by King Hassan II on 16 January 1995. AUI Dedicated to being an international university.
Courses
The university offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Significant research by faculty and students complements the University academic instruction. International students make up 25-30% of its student body. Students can choose to study in the following areas:
Business administration, International studies and diplomacy, Applied humanities, North African studies and Arabic language programs, Science and Engineering. All courses are taught in English. However, it gives special attention to the teaching of the Arabic language at all levels and in all branches of education.
Campus
The architecture of the campus complements the distinctive building style of Ifrane, characteristic of mountain chalets with their high-pitched tile roofs and wooden beams. The steep roofs are designed to move the large quantities of wet heavy snow each winter. The campus, of approximately 50 hectares of rolling wooded terrain, consists of large chalets grouped around pleasant squares.

Among the partners are Autonomous University of Barcelona, Boston College, Georgetown University, George Washington University, Idaho State University, Indiana State University, Osaka University, University of Arizona, University of Arkansas, University of Bayreuth, University of Dayton, University of Joensuu, University of Montana, University of North Florida, University of Texas at Austin, University of Washington, West Virginia University, Dubai Internet City (DIC), Euro Prospective, European Foundation for Management Development, World Bank, United Nations Development Program.
In 1999, Bell Laboratories, the research and development arm of Lucent Technologies and Al Akhawayn University signed a Collaborative Research Agreement whereby both parties will work together on joint telecommunications related research and development projects.
