Ad-Libs Improvisational Comedy Theater

(Redirected from Ad-Libs)

Ad-Libs is an improvisational comedy theater tucked away in a corner of Dallas, Texas' downtown Arts District . Ad-Libs is the brainchild of Phil Larsson. In 1986 Ad-Libs performed its first show in the banquet room of the El Chico Restaurant. For the next three years, Ad-Libs floated from restaurant to restaurant, honing its act and slowly becoming a word-of-mouth hit, gaining a cult like following. To have true independence Ad-Libs would have to open his own theater. With more than a dozen credit cards maxed out, at 19.8 percent interest, an abandoned warehouse in downtown Dallas began transformation into Ad-Libs current home. One of the busiest comedy troupes in the country, Ad-Libs performs more than 300 shows a year at its own homebase in Dallas and tours nationally to colleges, businesses and special events. Since it's humble debut in an El Chico banquet room, Ad-Libs now produces troupes in Atlanta, Georgia, Tulsa, Oklahoma and of course Dallas, Texas.
