January 22 - The National Council of Women of Ireland is agitating to form a women's police force.
April 8 - All political parties and Church leaders gather at the Mansion House to pay tribute to the Chief Rabbi, Dr. Herzog, who is leaving to take up the new post of Chief Rabbi of Palestine.
August 27 - Dublin's first automatic traffic signals come into operation at the junction of Merrion Square and Clare Street.
October 12 - Mrs. Thomas J. Clarke addresses the Fianna Fáil Árd-Fheis. She tells the party that it's moving away from its original values of republicanism.
December 29 - Bunreacht na hÉireann comes into force. A 21-gun salute is fired from the Royal Hospital and the national flag flys over all public buildings.
